Student Films Selected as Part of Virginia Film Festival
Tandem filmmakers will be well represented at the Virginia Film Festival this year. Last spring, five Tandem juniors (now seniors) - Bean C, Alex E, Izzy G, Elena P, and Bailey W - were one of the teams that created a film at Light House Studio during their Emphasis project, with teachers Tucker Winter and Edwina Herring as their mentors. Their group film, Les Amoureux, has been selected to screen at this year's Virginia Film Festival as part of the Light House Studio showcase!
Several other Light House Studio Showcase films being featured during the festival were worked on by Tandem students taking classes on their own at Light House, including 6th graders Cypress W, 8th graders Eli H and Alex R, 9th graders Lili P and Emory S, alum Edwin L, and two former Tandem students.
The showcase is being held on Wednesday, October 30 at 5:30 PM at Violet Crown Cinema (200 West Main Street, on the downtown mall). The screening runs 90 minutes and is followed by a Q&A with the student filmmakers. All movies with filmmakers in attendance will be eligible for the Audience Choice Award!
The screening is a free, unticketed event. Congratulations to our talented Tandem filmmakers - head on over to Violet Crown on October 30 to support these Badger film artists - details here.
