First Model UN Competition Complete

Tandem's Upper School Model United Nations group of 26 students headed to the nearby UVA campus to take on their first Model UN conference of the year (the VAMUNXLIV, the 44th annual). The conference was held November 15-17 with students from schools all over the region. Teachers Alex Siragy and Melissa Winder are the chaperones. Students participated in their first committee session on Friday night, two sessions on Saturday, and one on Sunday serving on committees covering topics ranging from Monsters, Inc. to the Stalin years in the Soviet Union. We had students discuss the usage of AI, what to do with the Soviet Union's leadership, tariffs, and whether the screams of children are an appropriate power source (Monsters, Inc.). It's a busy schedule - read more about the event here. In addition to their many working conference sessions, delegates had some fun evening activities to enjoy with the delegates from other participating schools. The following students attended: Victoria D, Catriona S, Hayes B, Seth R, Maya S, Ginger K, Jude G, Oscar D, Lucy L, Elisabeth S, Ana S-G, Eli L, Owen S, Ty B, Lucie Q, Alanah R, Alex S, Fletcher L, Eli C, Hudson L, Jack J, Will M, Vivian T, Talia P, Cora R. Congratulations, Tandem Model UN delegates!
