Quiz Bowl Team Tackles First Tournament

Tandem's Quiz Bowl team entered its first tournament last weekend - the Winter XV Quiz Bowl Tournament in Richmond. We entered one team in the varsity division (Hudson L. Alex S, Owen S, Vivi T) and one team in the JV division (Madeline M, Nati Y, Otis H, Henry L). The varsity team was competitive in almost every match with only a couple of questions defining the margin between victory and defeat.  At one point in the round robin qualifying phase of the tournament, they rattled off three straight victories. The JV squad completed the round robin part of the tournament with a 5-2 record and ended the day with a 3rd place finish. Madeline (4th) and Otis (6th) were among the top scorers in the JV division. The team is hoping to compete in a few more tournaments this spring. Anyone interested in Quiz Bowl (including 8th grade students) can contact Robert or Russell.
